A Pink Christmas | Mixed Media | Card

December 04, 2019 Sidelle Menon 50 Comments

Hey!

Since the last 24 hours I've been in the mood to create a lot so do expect a lot of content for the upcoming week.

For my second Chrismas card, I wanted to incorporate my favorite color - PINK! For the background, I used my old stamps + stencils to create a textured background and followed it up with a coat of diluted gesso. For the baubles, I used pink food coloring as the color is vibrant and followed it up with the same stamps + stencils. After fussy cutting the baubles, I assembled the card and went over the baubles with my white pen and perfect pearls in black and white. To finish it off, I used a handwritten sentiment and added a few splashes of white gesso.

A Christmas Scene Card

December 03, 2019 Sidelle Menon 23 Comments

Hey!

It's been a bit tough getting back to crafting amidst college work but since Christmas is just around the corner, I just couldn't stop myself. I have an obsession with collecting cards be it Christmas, New Year, Birthday, Easter, Anniversary and especially Indian Wedding cards (the variety is endless).

I chose a few cards and upcycled them to make my first Christmas card of the season! Here are two closeups of the card.

Passion led me here.

Hey!

So again it’s been a while, but as you know college life never gets easier, as much as I love doing crafts and being creative I needed some time off for my exams and I’m back at it again. Blogging and sharing what I do is one of my biggest passions and I don’t want to lose touch with it, as they say, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Quite often I have seen that those who do crafts often have the best of best tools and the newbies seeing all this get intimidated and choose to not get crafty, but let me assure you that to be creative you do not need all those things just the basics and you’re good to go. Through my blog, I want to show how you don’t need to spend too much to make a good card or a DIY project and you do not need a billion tools to get crafty, using things lying around your house can be just as good. Working on a budget can get tricky if you want to get a few necessary things which may be expensive, but I will try my best to be reasonable with any spending. I love doing crafts and these projects because you can not only give meaningful gifts but also not create waste around the house and use these things.

Thank you so much for taking the time and reading this, I will try posting more regularly now as I said earlier. If you would like me to do something and have more ideas for me write it down in the comments; Thanks again and have a great day.

Background Stamped Flower Card

June 24, 2019 Sidelle Menon 16 Comments

Hey everyone!

For today's card, I thought I'll do something different. I wanted to make a PP type of a background so I grabbed my Mandala stamp set by Peek-a-boo designs and used the flower mandala stamp on the entire background. For colouring them, I went with my old watercolour pencils over all the flowers. Added black glitter to the edges. Then I used my alphabet stamp set to stamp out the words 'Happy Birthday', stamped and cut three more mandala flowers and glued it in the middle to complete the card. Here are a few pictures.

B&W + Blue Card

June 22, 2019 Sidelle Menon 5 Comments

Hey everyone!

I'm finally back after a few days of planning out my posts for the next few weeks. Today I've made a simple Black and White card and added a dash of blue with the handmade flowers. I have built up the base by adding different pattern papers, book sheets and lace. Here are a few pictures of the card.

A New Beginning

June 08, 2019 Sidelle Menon 0 Comments

Hey!

Change

Feels really weird to have finally come back to blogging after almost 3 years. The biggest reason for leaving blogging was my academics, I got held up with it and couldn't make time to post.I tried many times to get back but just didn't. Finally this year, I decided that it's time to get back to doing the thing that I love the most - art.

Over the last three years, I have had many crazy experiences which threw me out of my comfort zone. I realised that I was blessed with the basic amenities of life, a loving family and great friends while there are so many people out there who don't have any of them. I also  realised that my skills, capabilities and passion are so well defined that I need to make the best use out of them. What better way than through this blog? With that thought in mind, I decided to change the concept of my blog completely.

Let's start with the basics.

Who am I?

My name is Sidelle Menon and I'm 20 years old.

What is the blog going to be about?

All of the posts from now on wards will include art and craft made out of recycled items or craft items that I have hoarded since the last few years. I will be also sharing a few tips and tricks on how to make the most out of your existing art supplies so that people who cannot afford expensive art supplies can still make good use of the old ones.

Thank you so much for sticking by so far. I will be posting regularly from now on. Have a great day!
